Vernal Spring Equinox is March 20, 2013. This is the point each year where our day and night are equally divided; 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness, due to the sun being positioned directly over the equator.
Celebrated the world over for millennia as the beginning of Spring, flowers blooming, and a sign of the fruits to come. Christians celebrate Easter the first Sunday after the first full moon beyond the Vernal Equinox. Easter symbolizes Jesus Christ's resurrection from the cross (representing eternal life, or light and renewal). Non-traditionalists celebrate this as a time of fertility, symbolized by the egg. In Egypt the Great Sphinx faces the rising sun on this day. It is also a traditional Japanese national holiday where they celebrate seasonal change, as well as being a time where they visit their family tombs to pay respect. This is also the beginning of the Persian New Year, the start of a thirteen-day celebration in Zoroastrianism.
It is a great time for Spring cleaning in your home. Don't get bogged down with the idea that you must start on the Equinox to effect change. Anytime in the Spring is the right time. Use this time to declutter your home. Donate things that you have not used over the past year. Delete the old emails and files on your computer that are no longer needed. Detox your body with juicing, or eating lighter meals like fresh fruit and salads.
With a spiritual view, the Equinox is a time for reviewing the past and letting it go, to allow room for the new planting and sprouting seeds. Take the time to review the occurrences of the past season, or even this past year and beyond. What lessons have you learned? What changes would you like to make? Let go of any regrets and mistakes, fore this is the time of renewal and a fresh start.
Journal about your hopes, wishes, and dreams for the future. By doing so, you will be planting seeds to allow for fertilization. You may also start noticing the sprouting of seeds you had planted at the end of 2012. Nurture them with love, allowing them to emerge in Divine timing.
We are now in the Golden Age, so things will start to improve in all areas of your life. Many have had to go through the "Dark Night of the Soul". This may have been a very trying time for some people. You may have had struggles with finances, disagreements with family, friends, or colleagues. You may have just been feeling restlessness, or a sense that something was missing, or that you were off path. Just know that this was a necessary purging that we had to go through. The Earth herself was going through the same. Awakening will be easier now. The heart is opening for all. Be gentle with yourself, this will not happen overnight. However, rest assured the process has begun.
Be open to the invisible guidance that is available to you. This is birthright energy from your Creator. You may picture this energy coming from your Higher Consciousness, or from Angels, or Guides if you like. Keep watch for synchronicities. The more you take notice, the more they will occur.
Wear a smile like your favorite article of clothing. Notice how people react to you when you do this. What you will be doing is sharing the energy of love and assisting others to move into the same vibration.
And most important...Believe! The nectar of Amrita is becoming available. We chose to be born of this time.

According to Thomas, inner stillness and other benefits old traditions afford is only half the equation of authentic transformation.
The other half is "movement," competently facing and embracing the constant change that IS life.
Thomas's intuitive style of teaching cuts like a laser light to the essence of the matter: Fully awakening in the 21st century is not only a question of finding your center and rising above the limitations of ego; you must "innovate" in every moment as you engage in the rigors of daily life.

A true story, although this occurred some time ago, I thought it appropriate to post now for new beginnings in 2013.
This was the first caterpillar I saw that warm sunny day at a client's home as I was beginning to water her flowers. Then I noticed the other caterpillar, the one that I named Spirit. He was stuck to the side of the tiered strawberry pot. The first caterpillar, the one photographed above, crawled down from the top of the pot and started harassing the other caterpillar (Spirit), who was stuck upside down, getting ready to cocoon. Spirit could not defend himself because he had already attached himself to the pot. Yet, he tried valiantly to fend off the other caterpillar by angrily whipping himself up at the one above.
Usually a caterpillar will cocoon under a leaf, or a branch. Therefore, this was an unusual spot to attach himself. I still needed to water these tiered pots for my client, so I knocked him loose, figuring he would crawl away from the bully and go find a suitable leaf to hang under to cocoon himself preparing for hibernation. However, to my surprise, two days later I found him in the second level of the pot below where he had previously fallen, and he had already cocooned. Perhaps he felt it had been a good spot under the flowers protected from the sun and the wind. On the other hand, perhaps he was already been too far in the process when I detached him from the pot. Nevertheless, I still could not water without drowning him in the chilled water from the hose.
So I waited a couple more days, not sure how long it would take him to hatch, silly word I know, thinking in my naivety that it was like an egg. However when I checked on the plants a few days later, they were getting very dehydrated. I had a responsibility in keeping these plants alive.
I also felt a responsibility to this little creature, since after-all, I was the one who interfered in his cocooning. So I wrapped the little cocoon pod in a paper towel and brought it home. Then, I did my internet research to figure out how long he had before emerging into the world again, a fascinating inquiry to say the least. I had to figure out what I would do with him if he were to have any chance at survival. In the interim, I placed him inside my bookcase with the glass door front ajar. I felt the need to contain him in the event he emerged sooner than the research stated. I did not want my cat to think him a new play toy.
After reading how one was supposed to prepare a proper container for a caterpillar prior to cocooning for a home project, and seeing how important it was to allow them to have a screen top, or branches to hang their pod from, I knew I had blown it. I also knew that I now could not just lay the pod outside somewhere to fend for its self.
You see, the importance of their being able to suspend from above as a cocoon, is because when they emerge, they will shed the shell and hang upside down until their wings are dry and fully developed. If they are not given the space and time for that before standing upright, their wings may be deformed.
So now I was racking my brain daily trying to figure out how I can do this, counting the days until his reentry to the world. I had to figure out the best way to place the pod (actually called a chrysalis), having no idea how to attach it to something so he would have the best chance at survival. I ended up folding a napkin so that it had a higher part that I could lean the chrysalis in an upright position against.
Then I kept trying to find a better solution daily, while keeping a close watch at the color of his evolution. According to my research, the shell would turn from its shiny blue-green color, to a dark black, during the transformation process. Then as he got closer to his emergence, the shell would become iridescent.
As the days passed quickly by, I could see the chrysalis changing, growing darker every day. This was happening way too fast for me. I still had not come up with a better solution. However, I was glad I had not put him outside someplace, because we ended up with one or two nights of near freezing temperatures. This was very unusual for Southern California this time of year. He surely would have perished had I left him in that pot. So I gained a little comfort, or should I say relief from my guilt, in knowing that perhaps I actually saved his life by interfering that day. His brother/sister, or mate (not sure what the relationship was), most probably did not make it through that cold spell, and may have perished.
You can see in this photograph, I did get some water on the chrysalis, as I went to water the plants two days after I had knocked him loose. That was when I discovered it laying on the soil inside the pot. At first glance, I did not realize that this was the caterpillar from two days earlier, because I had never seen one in chrysalis stage before. The first pictures I took of the two of them, I had only done so because I thought they were colorful and intriguing. Seeing this pod, I might have thought this some kind of plant seed in any other situation. However when I saw it in the pot, I noticed a thin sparkling line going vertical along the pod, and I thought that reflected the beauty of the lines I had seen on the caterpillar. Then instantaneously, in a flash of insight, I knew they were one and the same.
Back to the story; As I was watching his shell grow more iridescent, I grew more worried, and thought I might have another day or two to come up with a brilliant solution. However, I miscalculated and found the empty shell in the next morning when I went into my home office. :-O
A moment of panic struck in thinking he emerged and got out of the bookcase, because I had left the door ajar to keep the air circulating in there. But then I spotted him on the edge of one of my books, and a very appropriate one I might add: titled "Along the Path to Enlightenment", right next to "A Purpose Driven Life" and "The Emerging Mind".
When I first saw him, I was awestruck with his beauty. He was so glorious. Then upon a closer look, I was horrified. In a split second I went from the greatest feeling of joy, to complete terror and mortification. Both his right wings were deformed, and had not been able to develop fully, apparently from emerging and being unable to hang upside down freely during the drying process. I was crushed, and I blamed myself for interfering in his life.
Therefore, my next plan was, with God's help I could send him healing energy through prayer for him to fully develop himself. So I connected with my Divine in prayer, and then sent an energy transmission, willing his wings to straighten out. Then I pleaded with God to assist in his healing. I know, pleading is not necessary, but I felt my strong emotions allowed me to wing my prayer in full force to Divinity. I eventually surrendered. If it were not to be, so be it. I would figure out what kind of flowers he liked to drink the nectar of, and I would feed and care for him the best way I could, for as long as he lived. I would just have to live with the knowing that I may have deprived him of flight and freedom; a very heavy burden for an Empath to bear.
Coming back to the now of the moment, I placed my finger in the case on top of the book, and he immediately climbed up on it. Look at his beauty! I marveled at the miracle before me. You can see I did not photograph the wing side that was deformed. This was no accident; I was ashamed of my part in his defect.
I felt a deep connection with him right away, and knew that his story was somehow my story. I felt at the soul level that my path was not complete. There was a fork in the road, and the direction I went, along with the choice, was mine alone. However, once the direction were chosen, there would be no turning back, and so it would be.
I knew I had to trust in myself, trust in God, and trust in Spirit. So I prayed for my Spirit Butterfly. Then I prayed some more.
I placed him on some flowers I had in my office. Unfortunately, they were not the nectar variety, yet this would be his first introduction back to nature.
I then took Spirit and the flowers outside to place them in the fresh air and sunshine. It was such a beautiful day. The sun was shining warm, and there was a light breeze in the air. I watched him for a little while, and he crawled to the top of the flowers, but made no attempt to fly. I had no intention in trying to force his flight, because I knew only he would know when he was ready to attempt it. His right wings were still bent pretty badly. So I had no idea if he would even be able to fly.
I had to go back inside to finish getting ready for work because I was now late. I would check on him once again before I left for the day.
When I went back out to check on him, I went into prayer one more time and sent him energy. A moment later he tried to flutter his wings. This was the first time he tried that, but he was still holding on to the flowers with his little legs. Although, his wings were actually looking much straighter, but still they were not completely straight.
I placed the flowers half in the sun, and half in the shade, just in case he got too hot. Then I released my desires, judgements, and all expectations, to God. Spirit was in God's hands now. I could do no more. I knew he may not be there when I got home from work that day. I would have to assume that a good sign, hoping he flew away. Because to think of the alternative, would send me spiraling into a deep abyss of depression and guilt.
Then, just before I was about to leave, I said goodbye, and wished him well. "I wish you a long life with hundreds of sweet nectar flowers", I uttered with tears in my eyes. Then I told him; "Go and see the world on the wings of the wind."
I no sooner uttered those words, and he suddenly took off in flight, circling around me before heading to a tree above. Tears flowed like a fountain from my eyes, and I knew he would be okay...
... and so would I, I chose the right fork in the path after all.

As we are winding down this last year- 2012, the end of many cycles; the end of the Mayan calendar, the end of the 26,000 year winter solstice galactic alignment cycle, the end of the "information age" which is the age of the left brain linear thinking without acknowledging our right brain creative/intuitive powers, we are entering into a new era - The Golden Age.
It's going to be just as beautiful and promising as its name indicates. Not without trial and tribulation, perhaps even major upheavals and chaos for some. Nevertheless, it is the beginning of the new earth promise.
We are entering a new dimension, and the world will be a better place. We are birthing a new world. More and more synchronicity will start to occur. The Golden Age is the beginning of the Divine feminine and the birth of the new, more spiritually aware mind.
Therefore, I say to you; stay open to the signs and synchronicity that will be presented to you in the coming days and months. Watch for things that you would call coincidence. A great read that can assist you on your path is James Redfield's Celestine Prophecy series. While his books may be titled fiction, they were Divinely guided as lessons for the future to ready people to start using their right brains more, and to start opening to the part of our SOULvolution™.
So relax, it's not the end of the world... it is the beginning. When you wake up on December 22nd, 2012, celebrate! Because this is a momentous time for us all. This is what we came to earth for this incarnation. This is why we have seven and a half billion people alive today, we all wanted to be a part of this birth. There are more beings on earth now, than at any other time in our world history. All our souls wanted to be part of this momentous time. we are the ones we have been waiting for. So until next year, I bid you well. See you on the other side. Namaste!
Dedicated in memory of my beautiful Dahlila, whom I still miss every day. I can feel her Spirit still with me, but it's not quite the same.

I just finished reading another holiday travel article that suggested people take their dogs with them when traveling by car for their holiday vacations. While I do believe this is a great idea if you are traveling in a motor home if they are used to it, however it is not always the best solution if you are staying in a hotel. Keep in mind that while you want to go sightseeing, that most places don't allow dogs to be with you. So your dog will be left for long hours, stuck in the hotel room feeling lonely in unfamiliar surroundings. Not to mention being stressed because of the constant noise of people in the hallway. Therefore he won't be able to get any rest being in that hyper alert state. Most dogs are not like people, where they can just block out the sounds. You may also feel more tied down having to rush back to the room to make sure your pet gets out for a potty, rather than being able to stay and enjoy events. The purpose of getting away is to be able to relax, not be bound by responsibilities.
The article I read made a general comment that "pets are frightened by large boarding kennel atmospheres" as their reason for taking your pet with you. While that may be true for some dogs, I know that is not true for all. I do believe that some dogs love to socialize and enjoy doggy day care facilities and boarding kennels because it reminds them of the group plays they have at dog beach and the dog parks with their owners. It really depends on the individual dog, and whether or not they have been socialized, or brought up spending time with large groups of dogs. It can be extremely stressful for a dog that is not used to being around other dogs though, so keep that in mind. The article made no mention of other alternatives available for pets that do not do well with boarding, or travel well.
For those dogs who are not used to those types of facilities, I recommend you hire a professional pet sitter who is city licensed and carries liability insurance. The great thing about having a professional sitter come to your home is that your pets get to stay in an environment that they are familiar with and feel safe in. Of course this goes double for other types of pets who have never been out of their home and have never even heard a dog bark before; like indoor cats, rabbits, birds, in addition to pets that can't be moved easily, such as aquarium fish or reptiles. However, I would also like to point out some of the many other benefits to having a professional come to your home while you are away.
Holiday times are periods of increased burglaries. Thieves know that many people travel for the holidays. They also know that there may be many newly purchased items in the home with the holidays around the corner. Burglars look to steal because of the easy return policies most stores have at the holiday time. Having dogs in the homes is one of the best burglary deterrents, proven more efficient than even alarms. Also having a pet sitter come to your home daily makes the home looked lived in since your sitter will pick up the newspapers, mail, and flyers left at the door. Your sitter will usually rotate lights within the home to give it an occupied look from the outside in the evenings. in addition you won't come home to dead plants that haven't been watered in a week.
I am a professional pet sitter, so of course there is some bias in believing that we are the best option for your pets when you travel. However, I do believe that other options work for people as I mentioned at the start of my article. Private in-home boarding may also be a great option, where there are not a lot of other dogs putting them at risk of injury from dog fights or rough play. Another idea is to ask relatives who are familiar with your pets and home to stay at your place. However, they may not have the free time at the busy holiday season. I would advise against hiring the neighbor kid or imposing on friends who have a hard time saying no to you. With the neighbor kid, many things can go wrong: from forgetting to and relieve your pet and forgetting to feed them, to not locking your home up securely, to having pets escape, to not knowing what to do in an emergency situation, or having the capability to take your pet to the vet when there is a critical need. Not to mention you are taking on a huge liability allowing a minor in your home when you are not there. As for imposing on friends, many friends will agree only because they feel you will judge them as not being a good friend if they refuse. But secretly they will resent you for imposing on them interrupting their holiday time having to do your tasks. Had you really thought about it, would you really want to put them in that position? It would be like them dropping off their human child to you every time they had an event to attend, or were leaving town. Your pet is like your child, and is your responsibility, therefore should be treated with the same forethought when it comes to their care.
I service a small are of San Diego and La Mesa, California, so I may not be able to help you unless you live in my area. If you would like to visit my website; http://wwwProfessionalPetSit.com to inquire about professional pet sitting in my area and surrounding areas, I would love to be of service. In the event I do not cover your area, I do network with other professional pet sitters throughout central San Diego, North County, and in the South Bay area of San Diego, and would be more than willing to help you locate a professional who does service your area. Please just send me an email from my website, giving me your name, address, and phone number, and I will post your request on my network. For everyone else around the country, and beyond, you should be able to find a handful of professional pet sitters through a simple web search. Have a consult with a couple to see if they are right for you. I wish you a safe and glorious holiday season, and don't forget to get a little holiday gift for your pet too, to slide under the tree to share the joy with them.
Happy Howl-adays ~Kris Elig, P.P.S.
2012 Phenomenon - What does it mean for you?
Article written by Ariel Soul in The Essence of Spirit, Mind + Body magazine October 2012 issue.
For the last couple decades there have been much talk in the New Age circles about the auspice date December 21, 2012. But it has really only been the last few years as we approach the actual date, where people from all walks of life are starting to pay a lot more attention to what the date means, or doesn't mean - and how it will affect their own lives.
The two major facts that most people are aware of are; that the Mayan calendar ends precisely on December 21, 2012, and the other fact is that our scientists have determined that the earth, the sun, and out Milky Way galaxy, will be perfectly aligned on December 21, 2012, in an occurrence that only happens once every 26,000 years. They are calling this a "Galactic Alignment". The last time that this occurred in our history, we are told that the earth experienced a pole shift. Some have said that the evidence that archeologists found with the Wooly Mammoth frozen in mid-stride buried beneath the ice had occurred during such a pole shift. The scientists of today don't believe that we will have a complete pole shift this time around, but the question stands - Do they really know? There has been scientific evidence that the earth magnetism is weakening, and that our compass' true north has shifted. So can they truly predict what will happen during this galactic alignment? ... If anything...?? Or even if it will happen on another unknown date in the near future?
There are also many less known prophecies regarding 2012 that point to this same time period. For example; the Hopi Indians have in their passed down oral teachings that this will be a turning point in the world for great change; the "Nine Underworlds". With this, it is said there are choices to be made where the path taken will determine each person's outcome.
Then there are the hieroglyphics on the walls of the great pyramids in Egypt that speak of the return of the divine feminine.
Then of course, there are the "dooms-dayers" that believe it will be the end of the physical world - and physical life along with it.
Let's take a closer look at the two main documented scientific things we know for sure about the winter solstice 2012:
First, who were the Mayans? The Mayans of today are not related to the Mayans of history. The Mayans of the ninth century were an advanced civilization with superior technology that had appeared suddenly in the jungles of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, Guatemala, and parts of Belize and Honduras over 1500 years ago. These Mayans built and left behind a massive coded map for future people to find, made up of pyramids, large stone buildings, walls of hieroglyphs and carvings, and an intricately laid out ball court designed to track the celestial patterns and cycles. They were a civilization with different villages that were placed in specific patterns in relation to each other, with the central city believed to be Izapa. Then, one day in the 9th century AD, the Maya civilization suddenly abandoned their cities and disappeared as mysteriously as they had appeared.
The Mayan calendar, which coincides with our 5000 year recorded history, ends what is believed to be a world cycle on December 21, 2012.The ball court, and the monument drawings tell a story of the coming of the Galactic alignment with the solstice sun, the earth, and the dark rift of the Milky Way. The ball court is perfectly aligned with Tacana Volcano, which the Big Dipper rises and falls over. The ball court has been laid out in perfect alignment where the Galactic astronomical alignment will take place on December 21st of this year.
What I believe, along with the opinion of many other spiritual masters, is that the 2012 winter solstice is the end of a cycle with our world, and earth's people. Not the end of life, but perhaps the end of life as we know it. It will also be the beginning of a cycle where we have the opportunity to evolve. However, very different than the evolution that we have been taught in schools as we grew up. This is more of a spiritual transformation so to speak. I have coined a term for this called "SOULvolution". We are being given the opportunity for our souls to evolve, and the opportunity to expand our higher consciousness.
I believe the earth too is evolving. That is why we are seeing so many more natural disasters occurring around the globe; earth quakes, tsunamis, floods, hurricanes and wild-fires. We see record temperature changes, melting ice caps, solar flare ups, and record droughts. Some believe Mother Earth is also one large living organism. If this is true, then there too may be a soul of the earth herself.
The soul is a funny thing. It is not a tangible/provable object that can be seen or held. But somehow most people have a sense of it, and believe that they have a soul of their own that resides within them. I suspect that if you are reading this article, you fall into this category. A total nonbeliever would have no interest in the information I am sharing with you.
So what will December 21, 2012 bring? ...Perhaps nothing visibly different than the day that precedes it; December 20th, or the day to follow; December 22nd. Many revolutionaries believe, and I agree, that this cycle of change is, and has already been occurring for many years since the early 1980s, and that it will take many more years beyond this one focused date to pan out, perhaps to 2015 or 2020.
There are hundreds of books that have been written on 2012; some factual with scientific evidence to back what they are saying, some fictional, just a story in the mind of the author, and a huge blend of both. Only you, the discerning reader can sort through it all and feel with your own soul how much truth is in what you read. I say - take what resonates with you and discard the rest. Live your life today as if this auspicious date could be the end. Because then perhaps you will start living life to its fullest today. After all, none of us know if we will be here tomorrow. Then when December 21, 2012 arrives... hopefully we will have learned to live in the NOW, to do the things we love, to treat people the way we would want to be treated ourselves, to have respect for our environment and mother earth. These things that really matter will start to become the cornerstones of our existence. Then, it is my hope that on December 22nd, we take these valuable lessons that we have learned about ourselves, and we continue to evolve them further. We don't go back to the way of greed and selfishness; the ego driven world. Instead, we continue on this SOULvolution™ path for the highest good of all.
